Dr. Kareem Azab is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at UT Southwestern Medical Center, a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors, and the founder of several startup biotechnology companies. Research in Dr. Azab’s Lab is multidisciplinary, encompassing (1) the role of the tumor microenvironment (TME) in cancer progression, metastasis, and drug resistance; (2) the development of cancer therapeutics targeting the TME; (3) tissue-engineered ex vivo cancer models for drug development and personalized medicine; and (4) nanoparticles-based drug delivery systems (lipid and polymeric) for improved chemo-, radio-, and immunotherapy.
