Prof. Xiubo Zhao, PhD

Xiubo Zhao is a professor and head of the biomaterials and nanomedicine research group at Changzhou University. He was an assistant professor (2012-2018) and associate professor (2018-2022) at the University of Sheffield. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Manchester in 2007 and worked as a postdoctoral research fellow (2007-2012) at the University of Manchester. His research mainly focuses on biomaterials, nanomedicine, biocolloids, biointerfaces, bioprinting and biosensors.

Prof. Meiwen Cao

Meiwen Cao is currently working as a professor and doctoral supervisor in College of Chemical Engineering, China University of Petroleum (East China). He received his Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008. Between 2017 and 2018, he worked as a senior visiting scholar in the University of Manchester. His research focuses on peptide-based supramolecular assembly for functional materials fabrication and applications in drug/gene therapy. He has published more than 100 SCI papers and has H index of 30.

Research interests: 1) Development of amphiphilic biomolecules and their assembly to fabricate functional biological nanomaterials; 2) Synthesis of organic/inorganic hybrid materials for application as high performance adhesives, biosensors and wearable devices; 3) Preparation of novel functional nanomaterials and their application in pollutant prevention and removal.

Dr. Roja Hadianamrei

Roja Hadianamrei started her academic education by studying Pharmacy at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and graduated with a doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. Dr. Roja Hadianamrei further continued her education by obtaining MSc in Pharmaceutical Science and Medicinal Chemistry from Loughborough University and finally PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from University of Sheffield in 2021. Upon completion of her PhD,  she worked as Formulation Scientist in SiSaf Ltd, a Biopharmaceutical company specialized in development of RNA-based gene therapy products for treatment of rare metabolic diseases.  Having the experience of working in the clinics, academia and industry, she finally Joined the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science at the University of Portsmouth as a lecturer in Pharmaceutical Science in February 2023.

Research interests: Nanomedicine; pharmaceutical science; drug delivery; gene delivery, biomaterials; peptides; nucleic acids; cancer research.

Hsin-Hui Shen is an Associate Professor and Head of the Nanoantibiotics and Nanomedicine Research Group at Monash University. She completed her PhD at Oxford University in 2008. Following that, she commenced her postdoctoral research at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) from 2008 to 2011. She received the ARC Super Science Fellowship (2012-2015) and the NHMRC Career Development Fellowship (2016-2023) at Monash University. She is internationally recognized as an expert in bio-neutron techniques, mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, and the interface between resistance to last-line antibiotics and virulence in pathogens.

Research interests: Nanoantibiotics; drug delivery; biomaterials; neutron reflectometry; mimetic membranes.

Leyong Wang received his Ph.D. degree from Nanjing Univ., China in 2000. After postdoctoral stays at the Institute of Chemistry, CAS (2000-2002) with Prof. Youliang Hu, the Université de Bourgogne, France with Dr. Jean-Claude Chambron and Prof. Roger Guilard (2002-2003), and at Mainz Univ. Germany with Dr. Voker Böhmer (2003-2004). He then became a Humboldt Research Fellow in Erlangen-Nürnberg Univ., Germany affiliated with Professor John A Gladysz. In 2006, he was appointed as Professor of Organic & Materials Chemistry at Nanjing University, China. He has authored or coauthored over 220 papers in international peer reviewed journals. He has published 5 book chapters and edited one book .

Research interests: Supramolecular Chemistry; Biomaterials; Drug Delivery.
